Great White Shark Diving

I felt my soul divide while my flesh still absorbed the cold water, yet this same chill part of me, tauntingly aloof, watched me float in a cage beside a three-metre Great White Shark. It was almost an out of body experience. I could not join myself. I watched my arms shiver, my hands gripping a cold metal railing as I held myself underwater in a cage.
The shark neared, knocking its tail against the metal bars, its aggressive gills sucking the life out of the ocean. Closing my eyes, I awoke underwater. My first sight was the killer´s open mouth, the jagged teeth fine tuned to tear flesh, before it breached the water a metre in front of me.
The ocean had died around us. All I saw was nature´s most impressive predator. It was a dream sight like those narcotic moments, drifing and seductive, where the natural world seemed ambushed by imagination. All I could do was shiver with my blood rushing. I felt alive with no feeling in my frozen limbs.
“If it just got warm in here its because I peed myself,” I joked (or was I serious?) as I breached the water. “That was incredible. Holy shit! That was absolutely awesome.”
“Down!” the guide yelled, as another shark neared. I swallowed as much air as possible and dived under.
I always wondered how anybody gets attacked by sharks. The moment I heard the first, “Dun, dun!” I’d already be jumping back in the boat. Turns out, these sound effects only happen in the movies. The rest of the sounds were my girlish giggles.
